Service Description

Compare the various forms of Massage Therapy / Manual Therapy Techniques: Therapeutic Massage, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Neuromuscular, Relaxation / "Swedish" Therapeutic Massage is a general term that describes any type of massage / manual therapy that helps relieve pain, reduce stress, and work on a specific problem—such as a frozen shoulder. People tend to assume therapeutic massage means deep tissue massage, and that they will get a "very strong massage" Myofascial Release: A soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. The method engages the myofascial tissue and loads it with constant force until release occurs by slowly stretching the restricted fascia. The therapist moves slowly through the layers of the fascia until the deep tissues are reached. Deep Tissue Massage: A therapeutic massage with attention given to specific tight areas. Excellent for knots caused from emotional tensions, chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. DTM uses finger pressure, slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. This may include Trigger Point techniques regarding areas of referred pain / tension and release. Trigger Point Therapy: Focuses on the release of tension around specific nerve centers found throughout your body. It is great for relieving cramped and overused muscles. Neuromuscular Therapy: Utilizes a variety of trigger point techniques to provide a deep and lasting relaxation of your muscular problems. The client may experience "referred tension and release with all techniques as their body ultimately "unwinds" and relaxes so it can begin to heal and function most optimally. Relaxation / "Swedish" Massage: Utilizes smooth gliding strokes, gentle kneading and circular movements on the superficial layers of the muscles using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing. This is also the most common type of massage therapy in the United States.
